Do you guys remember the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS?

Essentially, someone of prominence would accept a certain amount of money to be doused in ice water and send the money to a charity for ALS research.

This is the kind of thing  that I like and can get behind because it's actually DOING something.

Whenever someone says they're 'raising awareness' and doesn't actually *do* something about what they're talking about, that really gets on my nerve.

It's one thing for a young person (Under 18 or so) to do it since they don't have a lot of resources other than their voice, artwork or effort to throw around. But for the progressives who only talk about it to 'raise awareness' and pat themselves on the back as if they've accomplished something offend me because there are people out there throwing in their all in order to make good causes a reality who make it happen AND raise awareness too.

However, they are admittedly harmless. Like a fart. They foul up the air for a moment, then dissipate without much impact.

What Green Peace did however, in Nazca, Peru, is *beyond* harmful.

They, in their infinite wisdom, saw fit to descend upon this sacred site, ignoring the laws that protect these places, and set up fluorescent yellow lines of text.

Why is this such a big deal? The Nazca Lines are a collection of hundreds of geoglyphs that were made by indigenous people over 1,500 years ago in the Pampas of Jumana in the Nazca desert. The designs include animals, people, shapes, and natural elements like flowers. Some of these designs are quite large, stretching 300 meters (990 feet) long. They were designed with little more than rope and wooden stakes and can only be viewed in their entirety from above, such as from the nearby foothills.

Nazca has always been one of my favorite mysterious sites... A place where people created pictures meant only to be seen by those far above, and did so with much aplomb and precision.

But now the hummingbird site is ruined for hundreds of years...

Because of these morons.

Now, some of my detractors may say 'Why Zucca, you magnificent stud, aren't you just 'raising awareness' like you were complaining about earlier?'

Oh no, dear readers... I am putting my money where my mouth is and sending e-mails to congress asking them to join in the condemnation of these hacks and sending e-mails to Green Peace itself asking if they would kindly refrain from destroying ancient treasures and holy sites.

Go forth and do the very same.

There are ways to draw attention to important issues and there are ways not to.

It doesn't take a genius to know which category this event falls into...
