Description

Cameo time! MBK606 from D-Art gave a cameo commission for a speaking role in Lone Candle. Not just one panel, but a whole page, and speaking no less!

Here, his character, Dr. Rags, a snarky adviser to House Chandra, explains the fundamentals of magic in Spira and how it works.

Remember, you too can have a cameo in Lone Candle! Five dollars for a one-page, one to two panel appearance and ten gets you a speaking role!

This was very jarring when I first read it. The immediate snap to the upstairs and away from the basement was not an elegant or good story idea. It completely quashes the anticipation of what the viewer was waiting for and instead subjects them to a long exposition on the worlds magic system. I felt the magic of this universe didn't need to be explained in the middle of a dramatic and life threatening scene. While the design and pacing for this page is consistent with the previous works, this panel was akin to shooting your story's pacing and fluidity in the foot. A little more planning for guest appearences will help maintain the story and energy instead of taking bites out of it.
